Each text chapter is introduced with learner outcomes that are then embedded in the text narrative in close proximity to the relevant learner content. Within the chapters, significant content is presented in Figures and Tables and enumerated in the chapter summary. Lastly, the text has ben reduced in length so instructors may organize units according to the average number of weeks in an academic academic term.

Another new feature of this edition is the introduction of information relevant to therapeutic recreation management in Canada.
Since publication of the second edition, academic programs in Canada are increasing; where appropriate, discussion presents information unique to Canadian learners. Comedy, indeed, has had comparatively little to say for itself in verse, even in Shakspeare. Wit and satire, and the observation of common life, want, of necessity, the enthusiasm of poetry, and are not impelled by their nature into musical utterance. They may write verse in order to concentrate their powers and sharpen their effect; but it will never be of any high or inspired order. This is the catalogue for Ed Ruscha's exhibition Los Angeles Apartments, held at the Kunstmuseum Basel in 2013. In 1965, Ed Ruscha published Some Los Angeles Apartments, the third of his ongoing series of photographic books, and completed a group of ten related drawings that depict examples of the ubiquitous Southern California apartment building. The exhibition showed the preparatory studies for these drawings which were recently acquired by the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Kunstmuseum Basel. They are based directly on the photographs Ruscha made of the apartment buildings. Also included are photographs from Ruscha's Gasoline Stations series of 1962, one of which served as a model for the painting of Standard Station, Amarillo, Texas, of 1963. By immediately juxtaposing preparatory studies, drawings and photographs, Ruscha's working method is clearly highlighted and the significance of photography for his passage between abstraction and realism made evident.

There are many levels of karate. During my first six–month training visit I asked the Master, “When do you know it all?” His response was “How long is infinity?” One advances in rank, skills and knowledge; building on the lessons and insights learned previously. The techniques that I teach my Shodans and Nidans would be totally lost on someone of an intermediate rank. At the same time, those black belts are not yet in a position to absorb the techniques I teach my Sandans and above. The Master helped me achieve very high levels of knowledge, but more importantly, he taught me how to continue to gain more from our techniques while remaining true to the kata he assembled and molded for us. The Master personally taught me details to techniques that he purposely did not put in his book because he knew that the majority of the readers may not comprehend. As part of my promise to the Master to take Matsubayashi–Ryu to the Next Step, I am sharing many of those details with you. Those little nuances are directly related to the training I received from the Master.
